The "largest ever" offshore natural gas field in the Mediterranean has been discovered inside Egypt's territorial waters, according to the Italian energy giant Eni. The discovery, announced by the company on Sunday and confirmed by Egypt's oil ministry, could hold a potential 850 billion cubic metres of lean gas in an area of about 100 square kilometres. A second trilateral meeting between Egypt, Greece and Cyprus was held last Wednesday in Athens, and a joint collaboration between the three countries is being shaped. The gas explorations in the eastern Mediterranean have resulted in crucial discoveries for the three states, especially Egypt, as it is in dire need of an economical boast, and Greece, which is still suffering from the economic crisis. Mavi Marmara baskınıyla ilgili tazminat görüşmelerinde Türkiye ile İsrail’in anlaşmaya yakın oldukları yönündeki haberlerin ardından Başbakan Tayyip Erdoğan’ın Gazze ablukası son bulmadan İsrail ile normalleşmenin olmayacağını söylemesine İsrail’den cevap geldi.
